Balls and launch angle

Hi, I have read that driver launch angle is affected by the combination of clubhead, shaft and ball. The ball being the easiest and cheapest of the three to test, which types of balls would give me a higher launch angle.

It all depends on your swing path, face angle at impact and the spin you put on the ball.

I recently went through a launch angle analysis session out at Kevin Haime's. Very interesting hour if you are at all interested in this sort of thing - and by posting this question, you likely are. It's a very education hour that you'll spend with Gord. He'll first get you warm up a bit, then, you'll hit a 10 or so regular range balls with your current driver so he can get an idea of what your standard deviations are.

Then, the real fun starts. He'll begin to provide you with different head / shaft combinations and will tinker with that combo, and then, once he's statisfied that he has sufficient data, he'll introduce various balls to further optimize your launch angle and distance.

It's $85 bucks for the hour, but it's a ton of fun and, if you're wanting a new driver and your wife is less than happy that you want to spend $600 on one, if Gord tells you that your current driver has been fit properly, you can at least tell her that you saved $515.

So you've got that going for you. Which is nice.
