The Eagle Creek Classic will remain on the Tour schedule for another three years and will now serve as the Tour's Tournament Players' Championship.

The full-field, official McDonald's Order of Merit event, will be held the week of Aug. 13-19, 2001, and will have a minimum purse of $150,000.

"The Canadian Tour has been looking for the right opportunity to stage its own Tournament Players Championship along the lines of what is done on the other tours," said Jacques Burelle, commissioner of the Canadian Tour. "During the

first three years of the Eagle Creek Classic, our players have expressed nothing but praise about the golf course and the generous hospitality of its owner, Andre Lacasse.

"it was obvious to us that our ideal setting for a TPC was Eagle Creek and the nation's capital. Long live the Eagle Creek Classic."

The Canadian Tour is an associate member of the International Federation of PGA Tours and all its official-money tournaments are included in the Official

World Golf Ranking.

The Canadian Tour stages tournaments from January through September in North America (Canada and the United States) and Central America (Republic of Panama).

More than 100 graduates of the Canadian Tour have gone on to the U.S. PGA Tour, the European PGA Tour and the Japanese PGA Tour. Some 22 of those players have gone on to win on the PGA Tour, including Canadians Dave Barr, Dan Halldorson and Mike Weir and international players such as Notah Begay III, Kirk Triplett and Stuart Appleby.
