The Golf Club VR - launching October 19th for the HTC Vive

As an owner of the amazing HTC (Valve) Vive VR headset, the one game I was hoping would come to VR was The Golf Club....and now it's happening!! 130,000 courses and growing - some of them absolute stunners (including Casa Del Snazzy GC v12, of course)

I wonder if this means a PSVR offering is in the works - that hardware launches next week! In the meantime, if the October 19th date isn't a typo, I'll have a review up here for everyone shortly...

Where'd you see the October 19th date? All I saw in the release was "by the end of 2016."

That's what the Steam store page says...it could be wrong, but it's supposedly dropping in 13 days!

This should be interesting - it's the first time we've had a compelling VR-sim offering that could change the home golf sim game considerably. That said, there's nothing quite like swinging a real club and hitting the ball.

Hopefully, we'll get to the point where VR trackers are simple to attach to clubs and can give us all the accurate readings we need (without even using the headset even). In that sense, it could be an alternative or compliment to the existing TGC sim product, or maybe even a competitor to standalone products like Optishot or Trackman, much like the 3D analysis machines you can try at Kevin Haime etc. The Vive lighthouse boxes are incredibly accurate in mapping your location and movement in 3D space, and there is very little chance of occlusion when they're positioned in opposite corners.

    Interesting days ahead

At this point the Vive VR TGC would not be integrated with a launch monitor such as GC2, skytrack, correct? I guess I'm getting a little ahead of where things stand but the imagination is running wild!

It's now out and I'll be grabbing it this weekend for my VR setup. So far, reviews have been quite positive and I'll be sure to give y'all a review...
