2 Iron (Hybrid) vrs 5 Wood

I went out last week and traded in my old Adams Tightlies 3 and 5 wood. I picked up a new Big Bertha Fairway wood (3 wood - 15 Degree). I don't carry a 3 or 4 iron, I have a Callaway Heavenwood 4 Iron Hybrid. My 3 wood is 15 Degrees and my 4 Iron Hybrid is 23 Degrees. So I have 13 clubs in the bag. I am trying to decide if I am better off getting a 19 degree 5 Wood or getting a 2 Iron Hybrid (17 Degrees) that I can use off the tee. What do members of the forum think is the better option, 5 wood or 2 Iron Hybrid?

    Cheers

    Personal Preference

It's going to come down to what club you are able to hit more consistently.

I haven't tried the #2 hybrid but do have a #4 & #6 in my bag as of early this year. Both perform well, most of the time straight & high, but I am still getting used to them. I've taken my 3,4,5 irons out of the bag and replaced them with a 7 wood and the 4 & 6 hybrids. Never could hit these irons anyways.

My 5 wood is however my "go to" club when everything else off the tee is going left or right I can depend on a straight high hit with my 5 for about 180 - 190 yards. This at least keeps me in the game instead of the trees.

I find that it's also indespensible from the fairway or light rough on the long par 4's and par 5's. As an added point I am able to draw and fade the 5 wood more often than not as the situation requires. I'm not sure that you will be able to do the same with the hybrids.

Good luck though and I'll be interested to hear how your #2 performs if you get one.
