Best places to find inexpensive shoes for newbie?
Women's shoes. I prefer to try on because online returns are a pain.
Looking to spend around $50 max new simply because I don't know if I'll like the game yet.
I live west of the city, close to Pembroke but come to Ottawa often enough.

Also have a look at Walmart or Canadian Tire. They have some on sale sometimes.

I honestly don't think you need to worry about golf shoes for now... Figure out if you like the game first and for now, find a very comfortable pair of shoes to walk the course. Don't go the cheap route on shoes, that can do more harm than good!

I would go to GolfTown in Kanata and find a comfortable pair of spikeless golf shoes. The will have a better grip that running shoes, and you can still wear them to and from the golf course. If you decide that golf is not for you, they will still work as casual shoes.

I agree with GOLFISFORFUN's post. You probably don't need golf shoes right away or maybe ever.
I often just wear a good pair of walking/running shoes and I know lots of folks who do the same.

Champions Nest has 4 golf courses with the clubhouses filled with liquidation inventory. Lots of great deals on shoes and anything else for that matter. Riverbend in Richmomd, Copperdale in Dunrobin, Rideau Glen in Kemptville and Champions Nest in Metcalfe.
