The Abilities Centre Ottawa (ACO) -- with a partnership with the Ottawa Senators - - has just moved closer to being realized. The ACO Board of Directors continues to work diligently to raise the funds required to build, furnish and operate this new facility.

Our Tournament is Seeking Players and Sponsors!!

*** We are pleased to announce Trinity Developments as our Title Sponsor ***

The partnership between the Ottawa Senators and the Abilities Centre Ottawa would have the ACO being developed as a component of a Sensplex – where each would be independently operated with shared common elements and shared operational costs.

The capital budget required to design and build the Abilities Centre Ottawa is estimated at approximately $50 million, and we anticipate needing to raise the majority of funding from private contributions (corporations, foundations and individuals) with a lesser share coming from funds secured from all levels of government.

Your contribution as a sponsor will support the operational costs in the development stage of this project.

THE ABILITIES CENTRE OTTAWA - AT A GLANCE

    www.AbilitiesCentreOttawa.org
The Abilities Centre Ottawa will be a national showcase for training, sport, arts, life skills and research located in the heart of the National Capital Region (NCR). The ACO facility and programming represents a paradigm shift in the systemic inclusion of persons with disabilities, leading to enhanced dignity for children, youth and adults who will be stakeholders in a facility for everyone. The ACO will be a universally designed facility intended to meet the needs of all individuals and families. The nature of staff training, programming and facility design will ensure an inclusive environment delivering enriching sport, arts, drama, music and life skills programming for individuals and families alike.

It is this exemplary combination of elements that makes the ACO nationally and culturally unique – a single facility with programming that is capable of bringing together individuals and families, persons of all abilities and ages, recreational and elite athletes, artists and performers, educators and researchers – to collaborate and participate.

The ACO is building relationships with potential partners, in particular the Abilities Centre in Whitby, along with local partners such as Carleton University’s READ (Research, Education, Accessibility and Design) Initiative and numerous national sport organizations including the Canadian Paralympic Committee and others. The ACO will also work with Ottawa’s health care providers to provide rehabilitation, fitness and training programs.
