Impact Screen and back material
Hello Everyone, new to this site. Got a couple of questions (sorry if they have been covered before)
Going to build a Simulator Screen soon. Here is the basic plan;
1. Frame is 1 in. EMT that will hang from the ceiling. It will be just off the floor and will be allowed to float/swing.
2. Not sure yet what material I will use for the screen but I am thinking about the material/method BEHIND the screen. Options are:
A. Netting (stretched)
B. Canvas (stretched)
C. 1" or 2" Foam glued to moving blankets in a Duvet that hangs from the top of the frame. This can move freely on impact.
D. 1" or 2" Foam glued to Rigid insulation boards hangs from the top of the frame.This can move freely on impact.
I would appreciate any comments or advice on the various options, especially options C and D
Thanks

How much room behind the screen? Do you plan to project an image on the screen?
I recommend Archery netting behind a proper golf screen. Canvas won't last.t

mthunt, thanks for the reply, I am thinking about 32 inches. 32 inches is where a ceiling stud is away from the wall. I can leave as much as necessary. Any thoughts on items C or D in the original post?

C and D are unnecessary and will provide little benefit IMO. I suggest a proper golf screen supported by netting if you are projecting an image.

Thanks, I will certainly give that a lot of consideration.
