Titleist 714/716
I have a post looking for advice on Ping irons and I'm also looking at Titleist irons. The 714 AP1 are on sale and a lot cheaper than the 716 AP1 model. The lengths are the same but the lofts are different. I would appreciate any feedback on these two sets.

I played the 714 AP1 last couple years.they are 1 degree weaker than the 716.the pitching wedge with the 714 is 44 degrees and the 716 is 43 degrees loft, which translate into approximately 3 yards longer with the 716.Personnel I hit them both and perfered the 714.If I were you I would go hit both irons and see which one you hit better and like the looks of better.
The ping g30 and new g irons would be around the same game improvement catagorie as the ap1 with maybe a little more forgiveness going to the ping irons.

A negative for the Titleist clubs is that I need to buy another wedge.

I never thought Titleist would join the loft inflation trend.
They even added one degree to the blades a few years ago.

A lot of manufacturers have very strong lofts that the average golfer will never need a 3 or 4 iron.

I play the 714 AP1s for 2 seasons now and love em yes i had to buy the extra wedge since i bought the 5-P,W48*. I already owned the SM4s 56-60-64 so needed the W52 to fill the gap. ordered mine with NSPro 950s. took a little retraining to get used to the stronger lofts and club designators but i'm a happy camper my cousin and another friend play Pings and i just cant get a feel for them but graphite shafts will have a huge impact on that. all my clubs are now titleist. good luck with your decision.
if i could only putt !!
