    What laptop for Optishot 2

Hi I'm looking for advice for the best Laptop to run a optishot 2

I am currently getting conflicting information over the Graphics Card. Some say I need a more powerful in dependant card some others say the below spec should work, please can you help...

    Option 1 £320

    HP
    Amd A8 Processor
    8gb Memory
    2Tb hard drive
    Radeon R5

    Option 2 £600

    Lenovo - touch screen
    Intel Core i5 processor
    8gb memory
    1Tb hard drive
    NVIDIA GeForce 92

I need to have a laptop as which to use it for other purposes. Also a touchscreen was the 2nd option just for convenience of use. I know there are laptops a similar price which are more powerful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Below are the Optishot minimum computer requirements.
    Windows® Vista, 7, 8, or 10 (latest service packs)
Graphics Card: 256MB Adapter RAM with OpenGL 2.0 support and the latest Video Drivers (no more than 18 months old)
    3GB Hard Disk Drive Storage
    4GB RAM
    USB 2.0 port
    DVD Drive
Internet connection for software updates and Platinum course delivery

These are not tough to meet and it would seem that both laptops you are considering could meet the basic requirements. Still, I would not recommend either one mainly due to the video card. I've seen Optishot software run well on a system with a 1G HD 7770 card. That is not a high performance gaming card by any stretch. It seems to me one has to look at these types of systems as gaming machines, therefore adding as much graphics capability as one can makes sense. Within your budget of course. In this case I might suggest one or two levels above the HD 7770. (HD R7 265 or GTX 660 mobile versions for example) You can take a look at the charts on this sight to get a better idea what to use.(http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming...w-32899-7.html) Cost will likely come into play here.

Thanks for the link, that's great information to have!

I was Ware of the Optishot spec but the Graphics Card had me stumped. I was told that anything with an integrated Intel graphics card would not be up to the job, this however is not the case then?

Price wise £300 was what I was thinking. The £600 option was because I was told this would be top spec i5 processor etc. Could you recommend a laptop which I could base my choice on?

    Many thanks

I don't know of one I would recommend in the £300 range, maybe £500. See the ones with the GTX 960M on this page, you might score a good one this time of year on sale with similar specs. (http://gaminglaptopunder1000.org/bes...r-800-dollars/)

Just had this response from optishot themselves... this regards my first two specs...

That looks like it would do quite nicely! The separate graphics card requirement is no longer a requirement as all new graphics cards are much better than new ones from 5 years ago.

My laptop has an integrated Intel card, 4 gb ram, quad core intel processor (not sure of model), and it runs optishot 2 on highest settings except for anti aliasing off.

Really?! How old is your laptop? It's not the i3 or i5? If you could find out the type of processor that would be amazing! Thanks for your help!

It's an i5, bought it last year, just not sure of the speed off the top of my head. I paid 279 US for it at Best Buy. I'll get the detailed specs when I get home from work tonight and post them here.

Yes, integrated and standard graphics for laptops is much better than it use to be, but consider if you ever plan to use this computer for any other type of gaming. My experience suggest almost every one does at some point in time. If so, consider upgrading to a higher graphics capability. Here's a couple of web pages that may help you decide.

    Good luck on your choice.
