What to do about the tree?
My ball ended up up against a tree. The tree is about two feet on the left side of a cart path and I am right handed.
It is a big tree.
This is not hazard.
My best shot to advance the ball is to hit it left handed. This puts my feet on the cart path.
What is my nearest point of relief?
If I try to move directly off the cart path to take a drop I can't because of the tree.
Where do I go?
Is it just to bad about the tree?
Can I drop it behind the tree?
Can I drop it on the other side the cart path.
Am I entitled to a stance at all?
My best guess is I should just hit it off the cart path or take an unplayable lie.

How would the ball get on the cart path if you had taken relief from the cart path with your LH stance?
Not sure what you mean here.

Sorry just a typo.
I meant just hit it where it was by the tree.

I can't see any contradiction.

He is entitled to a stance of some sort, providing he has full relief. It may not be nice or even achievable but he is always allowed to take a stance somewhere.

The rules do not prohibit a player from taking a stance of some sort but it may not be where he would like it to be.
However, I am being rather pedantic.Last edited by AAA; 10-04-2015 at 04:31 AM.
