    18 holes in 2 hours

Anyone know if an ottawa based golf course tried implementing this style of play?

I'm finding it more and more difficult to find 4-5 hours to play a round. 2-2.5 hours would be perfect!

Here is the link to the case study

Myself and a friend once walked 18 holes in 2h 15min, and it didn't even feel all that quick.

I've done 2.5 and it was easy. I doubt you'll find anywhere that does this as a policy. More like if you happen to get lucky.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I do it all the time by myself. Tee off at 4:30 and done by 6:30.

glad to hear some of you can manage this

anyone want to elaborate on their experience playing 18 holes in 2-2.5 hours?

Which course was it? were you behind anyone or was the course empty? Walking or riding? Playing alone or with a group of 2,3, or 4? Time of day?

    Many thanks

I have done it at Metcalfe. Walking an empty course at twilight after a shot-gun tournament.

I've done it a Greensmere, on a weekday in the offseason.

Quickest nine hole game I played this summer was 45 minutes walking. I carry my bag. Shot 37 on the west course (par 35) at Hunt Club. Quickest 18 this year was 2:45 while playing with another member. She was in a cart I was walking. I got around Carleton Golf and Yacht in 2:15 walking. A buddy and I played 36 at Carleton one afternoon a few years back and we didn't tee off until 4pm. We walked the first 18 and took a cart on the second 18. If you are playing well, walking a course with small transitions between greens and tees in under 1:30 is very easy. Hunt Club and Carleton are both easy to walk and there are very few long walks between tees.

Failed to note, there was nobody in front of us. That said, pace of play at Hunt is 4 hours. Longer than that and something is wrong. Longest round I've played there is 4:15-4:30 during club championship. 11 minute t intervals so you don't really get congested. Members know the course. Drop zones, red stakes, etc keep things moving. The course has cleared most areas, so finding balls isn't much of an issue. In those instances where I know it's gone, I replay the shot and move on.

The course has to be clear ahead or it's impossible to play under 3 hours. This generally means first off in the morning.

A friend of mine and I do that for most of our rounds without really trying to or thinking about it.

We each like to play "fast" in the sense that we:
    - Play ready golf
    - Do not spend time reading greens on a 360 basis...left to right, right to left, to the hole, past the hole, etc etc.... We have a look a the line from the ball to the hole...think for a second....play....
    - We each walk with a push cart
    - We take one or two practice swings max
    - We do not try to rush....we just hit, walk, hit, move on...
    - We do not look for balls forever !

Our wives like to see us home early so we book our tee off time at whatever golf course we can get the first tee off time of the day. Usually Kingsway at 7:00am or Gatineau at 7:00am. Gatineau used to let us tee off as early as 6:30 which was great.

I am an 8 handicap and he must be around 12 or 13.

Anyway, 2 hours is about what we need to complete the round.
Don't talk to my ball !
