    sink basement floor

First post here....I found this place through golf simulator forum. I just received my skytrak and am beginning to plan my dedicated sim room.

I have a framed 14x14 room in my basement, but only 8.5 ft to joists. Anyone here have experience sinking and existing portion of their basement?

Looking for tips, est. Costs, issues...etc.

    Thanks!

Google underpinning. It'll cost you 3-400 bucks a foot. I did it. You can likely hit most clubs with 8.5.

Holy crap....I was expecting money, but not that price. I got an estimate of 30-50 to break and replace....I was thinking of digging myself.

I don't know what part of the world you live in or how much height you want but you can't put your floor below the footing of your house which means you need to extend your footing down (underpinning). That is a big big job and can't be done for 50 bucks. You need to do 3 foot sections at a time by hand digging below the footing and replacing the dirt with comcrete.

I get that....btw the $300/ft.....is that linear foot for the underpinning or $300/sq ft? Big big difference....I would like to stay under 6-8k if possible for the concrete work....properly done. Thanks.

I'm 5 `11 and have a garage with rafters that high. I can hit any club except my driver, which hangs up on the rafters at times. I now have a dedicated garage driver with dents in it. Some things to consider" a shortened driver. I know Optishot sells them for just such a situations. Also, strategic placement of your hitting area could reduce club interference from rafters. Finally, you could possibly replace some rafters with something less deep - which would entail using narrower steel supports. I would consider lowering the floor out of the question.
