    Putter practice stroke

A player is setting up to putt.
    Question one.
They take a practice stroke. There was no intention of hitting the ball.
The practice stroke grazes the golf ball. The ball occilates but does not move.
    What is the ruling?
Question two. What happens if the ball moves slightly during the practice stroke?

By the way. Thanks for all the answers people have contributed to my questions.

Strictly speaking, the ball is in play - so if you touch it in any way, that's a stroke.
Now if you're all fluffing your ball on less than perfect lies, this isn't something you should even be thinking about

    1. If the ball is moved in making a practice stroke, the player incurs a penalty stroke and the ball MUST be replaced.
    2. If the player ACCIDENTALLY touches the ball, and it does NOT move from one place of rest to another, that is, it oscillates, there is no penalty.
    3. If the player touches the ball PURPOSELY, except in addressing the ball, there is a one stroke penalty, whether the ball moves or not.

Interesting, and surprisingly lenient for a game as strict as golf.
