Grips
Is it against the rules to install a pistol putter grip on a club other than your putter? I don't think so but my father-in-law needs to know, he wants to istall a jumbo on his chipper.
ThanksLefty Lucas

It seems that he cannot:
""Grips on irons or woods must be circular in cross-section, though they are permitted to have a slightly raised reminder rib running the full length of the grip. Putters, meanwhile, may have a grip with a non-circular cross-section"Lefty Lucas

Are not chippers illegal? If so,who cares what grip he puts on it. I'm sure he's just a rec golfer out for fun, Luc?

I have no clue, he plays at Greensmere and uses his chipper all the time and has a HC that he uses in club matches, Gerry Bower would know if its a legal club, I think it is but what do i know

Thanks, he can use a jumbo grip, his chipper has only one face but I know the ones you are referring to.

I suppose those Cleveland niblicks are illegal too, nowadays? Madness...the game is hard enough already, and as long as people aren't entered into a tournament, I'll never understand why the rules are set to make the game more punishing than it already is...
I picked up a Lovett "sand saver" from a fellow a while back. I've never put it in the bag, but it's said to be a great way to escape the bunkers when your sand wedge fails you. I won't even ask about the legality of that instrument...

Why would there be a problem with it?
