A question about projector

I have a question about the projector and wondering if anyone has any ideas what I should do. I just built a frame for my 12'x9' screen (GC2 & FSX software). Im ready to purchase a projector. Do I have to buy a native 4:3 aspect ratio projector? I'm also planning to use this as a home theater and would like to watch movies in 16:9 HD. Can I buy 16:9HD projector (1920x1080) and switch it to 4:3 aspect ratio when I play golf? Obviously, I would like to fill the entire screen during golf simulation. Thank you in advance.

Most 16:9 projectors will allow you to place them in 4:3 mode (check the specific model to be sure) but you will end up with vertical bars on the sides of the picture. Since you built your screen in 4:3 aspect ratio you probably want a projector that is native 4:3.

My screen is also 12'x9' and I would like to fill the screen. I will be using it exclusively for golf simulation. Which projector did you decide on? What did it end up costing? How far from the screen did you install it and the height of your room? Do you feel you made the right choice? Thanks for any input you might share.
