Alternate route south ??
Well we made it back--no accidents or tickets Just wondering. We have travelled I-81/I-66/I-95 for 12 years and it's getting boring plus the fact that they are starting quite a bit of construction------a little like home
Has anyone used I-81/I-77/I-95 for the trip to Florida? Looking at the map it looks like it runs right through the heart of the Appalachians. Is this a drawback considering weather at the end of January. I had always been happy once we reached Winchester........hopefully far enough south out of the chance for freezing rain or snow.
Any comments or do we stick with the tried and true?
I'm still shaking my head with all this white stuff on the ground !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

I hate I-95 with a passion so the least I'm on it the better and for about 8 years I've done the I-81/I-77/I-26/I-95 route and love it. If there is going to be snow in the forecast I'd stay away from it but so far we've been lucky as only one year had snow on the road through the hills but wasn't for a long time. I've found that the stress level of driving is way down compared to the long run on I-95. I had some friends try the route this year and they won't go the old route again.

Just got back on Friday and it was white knuckle at times on 95. I have used the 81/77/95 and i think it is the waty to go weather permitting

Also back on Friday. I vary my routine from one year to the next coming from the Gulf side near Tampa. Would definitely recommend 77. Traffic was heavy but not outrageous. Usually stop at the info centre to look out over the valley, Andy of Mayberry country. Might be a little longer than 95 but much more relaxed.

The 81 was my route for the majority of the trip to Georgia. Caught the Monday practice round at the Masters. I cant compare it to other routes, but I will say we should appreciate the quality of our Ontario hiways. They are in better shape overall.
My paycheck goes to my dogs.

I have to agree Bruce----lots of very heavy work started on numerous sections of 95 and 4. After this years time in the south I don't think I will complain about the Queensway again---or at least until they start the new bridge work !!!!! I think I will take the back door into Davenport/Kissimmee next year
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?
