OG Forum Match Play Championships 2015

The OttawaGolf Match Play Competitions provide a great opportunity for amateur golfers to experience a fun and competitive elimination tournament.

The Singles and Team Match Play events run concurrently over the course of the golf season. The events will begin May 9 and the schedule for rounds determined by the number of players who play. More players will require more rounds to get to the final match, which is to be played by the end of September.

In the past we have had 32 Singles for a 5 round competition and 16 teams played 4 rounds. This year we will begin by accepting the same size fields on the sign up list. Once we reach the 32 players for singles, for example, we will continue to accept sign ups on a provisional basis. If we reach more than 50% of the number to fill the next round, a round will be added to the event.

The Bogeyboys will be back to defend the title, it will not be easy as the teams are always very competitive. Last year's matches were the best with outstanding sportsmanship leading the way. The upgrade to Golf Select full membership to the winner is a fantastic prize, thanks Kilroy. Sorry I missed you at the Golf Show, you were not at the booth when I went by but then again I did not look in the beer tent for you

the last minute has gone from $30 to $75, a 250% increase. I have been last minute the past 2 years but at $75 I don't see joining. Any thoughts on a more reasonably priced option?

Jeff, when you consider the added selection of courses and the money you will save on green fees and the cost difference is easily justifiable, at $10/game you will make back your initial cost in 10 games. The last minute on EG also jumped significantly the last couple of years.

The regular price of the RM last minute was $49. Renewals were lower priced. If you want to renew a last minute membership call Lynne.

I only used it a few times the past few years and only play a select few courses Luc. It's not justifiable to me.

True, if you do not use it enough you cannot make up the difference, at Montebello alone you can save a ton.

This is straight up match play? No handicaps or anything like that? How do the brackets get set?

Handicaps are used for the match play.

If we play Stonebridge and use the course rating and the handicaps turn out as follows:

Player A : 10

Player B : 5

Player B would give Player 5 strokes, on the 5 toughest holes. Handicaps used are from RCGA or the one on OG.
