    Planning New Optishot Garage Build

With inspiration from so many before me I am about to start my new Optishot sim build in my garage.

Must support LH and RH play
Must be somewhat portable / set-up and tear down in 10-15 mins.
Garage is insulated but not heated

Here is my bill of materials so far :

Optishot sim - (plan on buying v2 upgrade)
    Optoma HD71 projector -
Microsoft Surface Pro computer w/ AV port to HDMI cable -
    Screen -
    - large painters cloth doubled over, with
    - 10x12 heavy white muslin in front

Materials to build 8x4 base with 2x8 putting extension (must be movable) -
    - 2 inches of rigid foam sandwiched between 1/8 sheets of particleboard
    - puzzle foam underneath
    - Green line 56 Putting surface on top

    Jagmanjoe turf -
Callaway HX practice balls - (anyone have experience with these)
    Speakers -
    Electric infrared heater -

    Still need:

    Over sensor lighting -
    Cups for green -
    Mini beer kegorator -

How did you secure the plywood to the insulation foam?

Is there enough weight to the whole platform that it doesn't move while you are hitting?

I used a caulking gun style adhesive that is suitable for foam.

It doesn't move at all, between the weight of the platform plus the golfer on it, it is very stable.

    Wow, that's really nice!

How does the software run on the Surface Pro? Can you run full graphics without skipping frames?

No issues with s/w on the Surface Pro. I use a mini-AV port to HDMI adapter to get the image and sound to my projector.

Am i misinterpreting this or are there 2 sensors in the platform?

I am literally embarking on the same style project - in planning phase.

My main issue is being RH/LH playable without moving anything. So I am interested in the platform and how it handles both sides.

Mine (pic from post 2 above) uses only 1 sensor. Main platform is 4' by 8' and easily accommodates both Left and Right play.

I have teo sensors in mine as posted above. Bought while on sale at Dicks for $199! I use a usb switch to switch between sensors if playing with lefties and righties.

How did you route the USB cable through the 2" foam?

Would you mind posting a photo? I'm curious how the USB cable gets to the actual optishot that is centered in the foam. Did you have to cut out a small channel? Thanks!

sorry but I didnt take any pics. I built a wooden perimeter to frame out the areas where the sensor pads set into. that gave me a solid surface to staple the grass carpet to. I left a void in the framing in order to accomodate the usb connector

I just cut a small seam with a steak knife and pushed the cable into it. Id really like to find a wireless USB cable but the ones on the market seem weak and inconsistent
