Do you get good reliable and accurate results with that light setup?

People do it...and with cheap cfl bulbs the IR emitted is low enough that it usually works. But it isn't the best setup due to shadows and reflections (off your shoes, pants, club, hitting mat, uneven lighting on sensors etc) so it would be better to get away from the close point source of light. A long fluorescent tube would be better and moving it further away and going to a broad indirect lighting better still.

If you put your hand in the hitting area and see any shadows at all then the lighting can be improved. And remember also that something may be black and absorbing for visible light but highly reflective for IR so be aware of possible IR sources and reflections.

Anyway if it ain't broke don't fix it...otherwise it might be worth experimenting.

Thanks for the tips, still experimenting with the lighting. Unfortunately the short throw projector is close to the screen and does not show very well with a lot of ambient light. Let is snow, let it snow, ok that's enough, I'll still be golfing all winter long������������ Cheers

Using a gobo to block the light from directly hitting the screen helps screen contrast. As does keeping the ambient light to a minimum. So does using a gray screen rather than a white screen if that option is available.

One question, what's a gobo? Went out today and purchased a 4' fluorescent light fixture. I'm going to mount it on the ceiling directly over the sensors, remove my point of use lights and turn of all other lighting, I'll let you know how it works. Thanks for your advise FaultyClubs.

After some experimenting, I found that point of use lighting sucks. There are too many shadows created by these lights. I originally used them because of my screen size and projector specs required me to only have about 9% ambient lighting. I switched to 4' flourecent lighting fixtures (3) these lights are in the area above my stance platform (also applied tape to bottom of my driver and 3 wood). I dealt with my ambient lighting issues by hanging a lighting shade 2' x 12'

With regards to the lighting issue, I turn all lights off in the garage and just use the ambient light from the reflection of the screen. Seems to be sufficient, and helps to increase the illusion that you are actually out there in the fairway...

Does anyone know what the cntrl-A or just A key does? Is says that it is for Pinpoint shot accuracy but when pressed it does nothing?
