Bwat - seriously, thanks for taking the time to give that write-up, it's appreciated!

I guess I'll give Skytrak a little more time. I am getting anxious, and I hate how they launched their product to market.. That said, I think could justify the price of their base unit, and some reasonable software prices (hopefully far less than 2k..). I don't care at all about online play, I can play golf alone in real life and enjoy it, so no reason to feel otherwise in the sim environment.

If Skytrak doesn't offer what I'm looking for, I'll probably try to get a new GAII with the courses mentioned. That would probably satisfy me for a number of years.

Bubba - any idea on how long I'll have to be patient?

Is TGC with SkyTrak one of those developments?

bwatkinson01 It's been a few months since your review of GAII.

Anything else you can add? I am thinking of getting one of the GAII units off of EBay

    Thanks

BobVal, nothing new to report. The system is still working good and I have yet to have to adjust the lasers. As far as I know they aren't coming out with any new releases or courses anytime soon, so you might just have to live with what comes with the purchase. For my purposes I don't need online gaming and the courses that I have are enough. For me it was a tough decision as to do I wait and see about the SkyTrak or do I pull the trigger on the GAII. So far I'm happy with my decision.
    Good luck with your decision.

Is it worth it I guess what I should have really asked

    Is this system worth it?

I see them on EBay with mat all the time and trying to understand if this system is good enough to help improve my game over the long winter months.

I am not looking for online gaming (have Exede for internet and limited to 10 gig a month and my family uses it all just surfing around).

Has the driving range software helped improve your game?

On a scale of 1 to 10 where would you place this item?

    Thanks

    BobVal

PS: This is my 3rd season as a golfer (age 65) and am a 21 handicap (wish I was 21 years old).

I decided to call Golf Achiever and talked to Kevin and he says the GolfAchiever-X is out of stock and should be available in August (I am assuming 2015 - ) and will cost $1,300 for the base unit a complete system with mats for around $2,300

Now if this system is as good as the GA II and supports both Left and Right handed players (seems like 1/2 my friends are left handed golfers) then this sounds like it will be a fun winter.

Has anyone tried an almost golf ball or something similar with the GA II??? In the instructions I noticed there was an option to select foam ball.. thinking this or GA-X may be a good upgrade from the optishot. Still have a ways to go on convincing the wife on the value of adding netting to the decor (not giving up), though the promise of playing original mario on a 14 ft screen got me the okay for adding an impact screen.
