Short throw ceiling placement in relation to stance platform advise?

I will be about 8 feet from the screen and was wondering do you mount the projector directly over the optishot sensor or do you put it back a foot or more? My ceiling is 9'8"
My only concern is protecting it from swings or practice swings, etc

Hi Bravo

This is Bret from golfsimulatorguys.com. You mount the projector so that it fills your screen. You really don't consider where you put the simulator in regards to the projector. If your sim is directly under the projector that is fine. Also, if your sim is a little in front or behind the projector, that is fine also. The only time this is a problem is when you have a narrow room and you have to place the sim off center to prevent from hitting a wall with the golf club. Then you have to be a little careful where you place the sim.

If your sim is in line with your projector, the only time you will hit it is if you are taking practice swings outside the hitting area. This does happen from time to time as people do forget. If you are really concerned, we offer a mat/projector/projector box package to prevent this. We actually place the projector on the floor in a fan cooled projector box. The only downside to this setup is that it requires an expensive projector as the throw ratio is .375 which is the shortest throw in the world for front projectors.
