I have read several review articles on business versus home theater projectors. Generally business projectors have higher lumens in order to project larger images in the present of ambient light at various throw distances. I would think these characteristics would be ideal for a golf simulator.

Below are two projectors with pertinent specs: The Ben Q HT 1085ST and the Panasonic PT-VZ570U ("business projector'").

The non- short throw version Ben Q HT 1075 was reviewed 9/17 on projector central and was quite favorable. There are extensive reviews of earlier generation Ben Q projectors on this site and AVS forum. Some of the newer features of the Ben Q HT 1085ST include vertical shift and wifi enabled (this feature I do not need). Given my simulator footprint I would take advantage of the vertical shift.

The Panasonic PT-VZ570U on the other hand would appear ideal for a golf simulator, especially given my simulator footprint. It has high lumen, adequate contrast ratio, would allow me to project a 9.9 x 15.7 image (1920x1200 WUXGA) from 17.2 feet. This is a new projector and no reviews available.

BenQ HT1085ST 1920:1080(16:9) L 2200. contrast 10,000:1. throw ratio .69 -0.83, vertical shift. For my simulator the projector will 13.2 feet from screen. (screen 16 x 9 ft), has vertical shift

Panasonic PT-VZ570U. native 1920:1200(16:10). L 4800, contrast 10,000:1. throw 1.1 x 1.80. Vertical shift. For my simulator the projector would be 17.2 feet from screen (screen 9.9 x 15.7).

The footprint for my simulator is 12 feet H, 21 feet D, 17 feet W.

Questions/observation:
1) Given the specs of the above two projectors, I would assume either one would be appropriate for my golf simulator?
2) Is there any reason why one would not use a "business projector" for a use of a golf simulator?
