    Fitting on an adapter... question...

I am looking to put a Ping after market adapter (CMX adapter) onto a very nice and clean shaft that was pulled from another driver head.

It has a good 1.5" of cleaned, prepped shaft tip, but it seems like the CMX adapter only has a depth of 1.25"...

So my question is, would I be better trimming the tip by 1/4" or would I be better off installing a small ferrule to hide the 1/4" of cleaned shaft that would be exposed?

This is a tip stiff shaft already.

    Thanks for your input.

Tipping it 1/4 will make it play a tad stiffer. Leaving the abraded part not covered will not affect playability. Unlike steel it will not rust or deteriorate over time. It is mostly a cosmetic issue.I have installed small ferrules over the adapter in the past just to to hide the extra abraded part. You also have to factor in total length in the equation.
