Champion's Nest
Any reviews of this "new" course (just north of Metcalfe G&CC) in the east-end.

Champion's Nest (formerly Poplar Grove)
Thanks bm, forgot the name.
Question is ... Is it STILL the same old Poplar Grove?"All I need to know about life, I learned from my dog".

Bruce---I have not played it in a couple of years--a buddy of mine goes with his wife just to practice. He prefers the "Royal and Ancient Bearbrook" when it's the guys for a cheapy round. I must say the conditions at Bearbrook ARE improving--played it 3 times this year as well as Pineview.

I was just wondering that. I know the same group bought up a number of the cheaper courses in the area, and also run a golf gear liquidation business as well (link on their website) but when you see power carts being sold as well.....it suggests something different. I think someone mentioned they were just in it for the land, so fire sales on anything and everything would make sense if true.

This is the same group that hold the golf liquidation sales that you see every year. Apparently they have only bought Poplar Grove and the other courses they are just managing. Apparently they have also set up an arm of the "company" to sell golf courses.

Poplar Golf was also on the rental of power carts for tourneys, they may have excess inventory.

I play this course, have a couple times this year. Same ol Poppy G as I call it, just with a new name. They had a buck a hole until the start of June, and its pretty relaxed so me and a buddy played it after work.
Hard course for sure, really have to hit them long and straight to even have chance at par on some holes."Stop deforestation!" - JB
