Flagstick BCC Open - Sept. 13/14

Less than 3 weeks to go until the BCC Open at Brockville CC.

Yours truly is in the field for this event, so I’m taking the rare opportunity to put some of you guys in your place, on the other side of the rulebook.

My current cap puts me either at the back end of “C” flight, or the front end of “D”, depending on how the draw pans out. I’m throwing out a challenge to C/D. How about a couple of rounds of “Beat the Ref”? I’m working hard to have my A-game ready for that weekend, so bring it on!

Last year all flights played from the same tees. I can't imagine that changing.

Last year all flights played from the same tees. I can't imagine that changing.

And, it has changed. A/B/C play from the black BMG tees, D plays from the red BMG tees.

Saturday was a brutal round in cold rainy conditions. So rainy in fact that they pulled people off the course around 1:30 and then declared the course unplayable around 3:30. Most of the groups hadn't finished (we had) and had to go back early sunday to finish. Sunday was much better in terms of weather though still cool.

I actually hit the ball pretty well (never lost a ball all weekend and took only one penalty stroke) but scored poorly due to a few bad holes both days and some really tough greens. You need a lot of experience on them in order to make some putts (and not 3 putt) though they are in phenominal shape, as was the whole course. It's the type of course you need to play a bunch of times to figure some holes out.

Other than that we had a great time and it was extremely well run. Thanks to Gerry and his team who we managed to keep busy on Sunday and I learned a few new rules in the process!

Yeah , it was a great weekend for sure , tough greens on a pretty tough , but awesome conditioned , course.
Props to the tourney organizers once again and to the rules officials for looking after the golfers.
If you havent had a chance to play in one of these tourneys , your missing out on a great weekend , mark it down for next year , you wont be dissappointed .
Brockville CC put together a fantastic , tournament conditioned course and the scores fully reflect that , props to them and their team for that.
Congrats to the winners , i left a few putts out there that id love to have back again , thats golf though...
And to Pablo .... Series is tied , winners takes all next time out
