Cart path drop ruling and club selection.

    RULING
    Dogleg left hole
Cart path on left side with small margin of light rough to the left of path. Wide enough to take a drop with stance.
Player takes stance with ball position just off cart path.
    Now
Wants to take their club length across the cart path. If they get to place it after two drops at the head of the driver it is in the middle of the path and they can now take relief to the right side of the cart path and have a shot at the green.
    Is this legal.
    CLUB SELECTION
On another note I have learned you don't have to take your stance with the club you will use. I could have a PW into the green take my stance and ball placement with driver use one club length with driver and get to the fairway.

The place would be at the spot where the ball hit the ground when dropped BUT , the ball must first strike a part of the course at a spot that avoids interference by the immovable obstruction and is not in a hazard and not on a putting green

It is true that, in finding the nearest point of relief, you do not have to use the club that you would hit if the cart path was not there. As long as you drop the ball in the correct area you are good to go. However, if there is any doubt about the accuracy of the position for the proper drop, it is wise to go through the correct procedure, especially if you are playing against me. LOL
