Where is a good place to go for a golf vacation?

My cousin lines in Sanfran so I can stay there for free and play everyday for 7 days so my cost would be the flight and the golf. I went to ORL last year and loved it. I heard arizona is good but bloody exensive. Any ideas for a good cheap golf vacation? I wanted to go to myrtle beach but I hear its not that good in december (but it is dirt cheap... 6 rounds for $130us)

Myrtle in December is hit and miss. Everything is cheap, golf, accommodation, etc. It's like playing golf here in October. Might be cold, might not be.

Arizona is expensive as it's one of the few places, Palm Desert is another, that has really decent weather to play that time of year. I was in Palm Desert in Dec 2002 and I was wearing shorts every day. It is expensive though. Anywhere that is really comfortable in December will be $$$. SanFran is also $$$, I was there a few weeks ago and the round at Half Moon Bay was $125US.

I'm not sure how Florida stacks up for cost of golf, but you've been there

well I stayed in FLA for 7 nights (we stayed in kisimee) at some crap hotel and we played 6 above average courses which sloes over 130 from the blue tees (but I played the whites) and it cost $600 taxes in. THe flight was $600 as well. I don't think it gets much cheaper than that. Anyone?

I would have to say that Arizona, namely Scottsdale is not too expensive to play if you can stand the heat!!! When i went a few years ago i played Eagle Mountain where they have had a Nationwide Tour event at and TPC of Scottsdale for like $30 a piece as long as you play at peak times, like 2pm. It's hot, but the courses were regularly like $100+. The courses are amazing, conditions are unreal and the staff is like nothing i have ever seen.

I would suggest Arizona either Scottsdale or Fountainhills

I'm not sure Thotho if that question was directed my way, if so, yes.....way under $1000 CDN........actually under $750 CDN for premium courses and even cheaper for "above average courses."

I spend 6 weeks every year in Indio California (Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage) and depending where you play, it can be quite inexpensive. If you want to play the top notch course every day (Landmark, PGA West, La Quinta, Bermuda Dunes etc ect) it will cost you an arm and a leg. I stay with my brother who owns down there (backing on Landmark) so accommodations cost me nothing but groceries. We tend to play only one top notch course a week (ie. $250 and up) and the other 6 days we play the Muni courses which are comparable to our good courses up here! They are in the $35 to $40 range most times with cart. There are courses down there for under $25. Apparently there are over 125 courses within about a 50 mile radius of Palm Springs with more coming onluine every year. I know there is one under construction as we speak at teh Fantsy Springs Casino right across the street from my brothers place. I have NEVER in the 10 or 11 years I have been going there been rained out of a game... (dust storm yes!) rainout no! Not to say it doesn't get on the cool side once in a while though. He moves back to Canada on April 1st of ever year cause it is too stinking hot down there in the desert come mid April.

My brother in law moved to Nappa Valley, I went there last summer. His father in law is a very well known club maker down there, some PGA guys go and see him so every golf courses employees/pros know him. He brought me to some municipal courses since we didn't plan anything ahead of time. I played free, but those courses were all around 30$ and the condition are better than any golf course I have every played in the area. Next time I go, he said to warn him ahead of time and he will bring me to some premium country club private course where there is some PGA tournaments once in a while... for free!! Cheap golf, plus you get to visit the Valley while your there and taste all kind of wines. I don't know about hotel and stuff, I lived at my brother in law place. Oh ya, it is in Northern California too, I played around noon, 1 pm everyday, and while it's warm, it's mostly because the sun is right on you. It is not too warm to play, I felt it was better than our 30 degrees with humidex temperature we get here since it's so dry out there.

    Costa Rica, Why NOT?

Come on down here to Costa Rica. We have great courses and lots of things to do. I'll treat you to great time you'll talk about for years to come. If you have enough time, we'll play a couple of courses here in San Jose and then go to Panama.

I'm going to Panama next week and will let you know how it was.

Try Hilton Head Island--we booked last year in an efficiency condo on the beach for 750.00-2wks--same one this year for a month--950.00 for March--Yes we are already booked. To drive exactly- 1200 miles-I think our gas was around 75.00 (but that was last year) I drive a 2004 Impala and got 39.3 miles per gal. There are high end and low end and middle courses. You can get coupons for a round with cart for 30.00 and I would say upper middle..High end like Harbour Town--200.00. Good restaurants and most communities are gated--mostly adults--a lot from Canada. I have more info if needed
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?
