Canadian east course has 6" holes

I played the 9 hole Canadian east course over the weekend and each green had a yellow flag with a 6 inch hole and another standard flag(red, white, blue) with standard size hole. First time I've ever seen this...for beginners.

Were they also handing out pacifiers to those using the bigger hole too?

I think it's silly b/c, while it does perhaps make the game more fun, it'll make the game more frustrating when these players go to a 'regular' course with 4" standard cups.

I played 33 holes on the East course on Canada Day (part of a 93 hole extravaganza over the entire four day long weekend), and since the standard hole size was also on the same greens, these 'other' larger holes didn't affect my game at all. In fact, after a time, I wasn't really that conscious of their presence, other than needing to periodically distinguish between the real flagstick and a second flag. And, I never had to take relief from the other hole on my putting line which was a surprise that I didn't over 33 holes. So no real hindrance to my experience of this new approach to allowing golf to speed up and in some manner, be more fun for occasional golfers.

Here is a picture I took of the bigger holes last week at Canadian, with a regular hole beside it. put a ball down to show the scale.
