Screen advice, 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio? , Projector?

I have ordered a GC-2 and am preparing my garage for a full simulator install. Very exciting. I see good comments about Par2Pro's HQ Impact screen and am very likely to buy one.

HQ Screen owners - screen holding up well with good picture quality???

My dilemma: My screen would fill out the space nicely in a 128" (w) x 96" (h) configuration. This conforms to a 4:3 aspect ratio. But I am told picture quality is better in a 16:9 aspect ratio, which would be 128" (w) x 72" (h). How much picture quality difference is there? I am considering the screen primarily for golf, but possibly cable TV and movies as well.

Would love current thoughts on this, even including the best projector for optimal picture quality.

Most affordable good quality projectors are now in 16:9 format.
Had a 16 : 10 before and liked the format better than the 16:9 I use now for the sim software.
For movies and TV the 16:9 1920 X 1080 is much better.
Got used to the format for the sim software.

Would go with 16:9 and black out the unused part for the screen.

    Thanks.
I like the 4:3 size screen for my space. thinking of golf simulator on 4:3 format with screen 128" x 98". Then watching movies, etc. on 16:9 format. Visible part of screen on 16:9 would be 128" x 72".

Does anyone have a set up like this, where you might between 4:3 for golf and 16:9 for TV using some sort of switch while using the same projector and keeping it in its fixed location?

Yes I have the 16:9 set up for movies and 4:3 for golf, one thing though is it did required 2 projectors, that being said I'm very happy with the set up.

I am in similar situation, GC2 trying to figure out screen size, projector. I have space for a 16 ft x 9 ft screen or a 15.7ft x 9.9ft screen, ceiling height 12 feet. Wouldn't a projected image, if your throw is 18-19 feet, use the entire screen in any of these scenarios?

Another issue to consider is if you are using a touch screen for your input (rather than a mouse)- you'll want the projector to match. If not, the touch screen may have some calibration issues.

I have a similar thread on this. You may want to check it out.

I have a GC2 and use 4x3 for golf and then 16x9 for movies, etc. Most projectors will support both aspect ratios.
