Whiteface Golf Club - Lake Placid

If anyone is heading down to Lake Placid for some golf avoid this course, they had a really tough winter and all their greens were hit hard. We played this weekend and it was in rough shape - basically, no greens, just some painted dirt. It was too bad really because the layout was decent.

Lake Placid Golf Club - Links Course was in decent shape - they had a week of rain, so it was a little shaggy. The Mountain Course looked to be in decent shape as well, but we weren't able to get on. Locals said Saranac Inn (Not Lodge) would have been the best place to play.

That's too bad. We're heading down this weekend and are prebooked with NY Golf Trail. White face is such a nice lay out too.

Just back, played Whiteface on Sat and Saranac Inn on Sun. Whiteface was actually not too bad, one green was totally gone (9) and a few were 50/50. The rest of the course is in great shape. Saranac Inn greens were a different story. Maybe only 3 or 4 greens were in spring condition. The remainder were horrendous (bare and patchy, like putting on asphalt). They are frantically working to bring them back for next year but not alot of hope for the rest of this year. The rest of the course is outstanding and a real pleasure to play.

That is really too bad...was looking to head down with my wife via the NY Golf Trail offerings. I think we'll wait for next year. tx
