Munchies on the course
looking for some ideas on food items people take the the course. Its still pretty early in the season but I have to say I'm getting rather sick of the $5 egg salad sandwiches at my local course. I've taken things before, mixed nuts, pb and banana wraps etc, but I'm just looking for some new ideas. Things that are good that will make me want to spend the time packing a lunch.
Also, does anyone know where to buy those small single serving bags of peanuts you see around, or the 99 cent mixed bags you can get at shoppers for cheaper? I checked out Costco a while ago, but I didn't see anything prebagged.

I'm fond of the jack links jalapeno beef jerky.

I've been making my own beef jerky for a while now and it's my fave snack along with almonds and some stolen pepperidge farms fishies from my daughters stash.
Throw some dark chocolate in there and booyah!

Costco has some pretty cheap beef jerky. I think it's jack links? but just the regular. The bag is 10 bucks but you get quite a bit. Was chewing on that in Myrtle Beach, worked out for me.

I usually make some PB sammies and grab a banana or two. Gonna look for that Beef Jerky at Costco and make some mixed nuts stuff. Cool thread idea.

visit a dollar store or bulkbarn.
You only get out of something what you put into it

I cycle a few hundred kilometers every week and golf 4-5 times a week and had a nutrionist give me a hand with suggestions for balanced eating, the ratio she gave me which corresponds with the research I've done is to attempt to maintain a 60-20-20 ratio between carbs-protein-fats, I try to follow this and have noticed my energy on the bike to be much greater. Tuna P/B sammy's, almonds, yogurt, apples, bananas, berries are typical snacks I carry for cycling and golf.

I make my own wraps and put them in a small cooler bag with a freeze pack. They are easy to make.
Buy flatbreads, spread cream cheese, add cooked sliced chicken, bacon, sliced lettuce, Bacon-Ceasar salad dressing, garlic to taste, roll them up and wrap in saran wrap and you're good to go.
But I also find that a couple of king cans of beer usually cures the munchies.Last edited by stevek; 06-04-2014 at 07:57 AM.
