Wind Mobile / Discount Cell Plans
Anyone using them? I am very interested in Wind but I am leery about switching from the big 3 (Telus for me). Current monthly plan is around $80/month. I really like the idea of paying $50 or less. Any feedback on any discount brand would be greatly appreciated.

I was strongly warned to stay away due to inconsistent reception, dropped calls, and poor coverage outside cities. That was some years ago. I went with Telus and am happy.

Yes, I was told the same, but like you said that was a while ago. Hoping things have improved.

As much as I hate both Rogers and Bell, they do provide coverage that some of the small carriers do not, so my cell is with Bell. But, it depends what you need in a plan. My useage is probably moderate or less, so a $45 plan was fine for me, in fact probably more than I need.

I've used Mobilicity for a few years. I pay about $35/month (paying 6 months at a time, no 'contract' required)
I have unlimited minutes for calling anywhere in north america, unlimited texting, unlimited data (it's not lightning fast butstreaming youtube works fine)
As long as you spend most of your time in the Ottawa region then the coverage isn't a big deal. You get 30 minutes free roaming for when you are outside of Ottawa which is more than enough for me.
I never have dropped calls.
Another perk is if you call outside of north america, the overseas rates are very good, under 10 cents per minute for most countries.
