Grip Question
How much does a wrap of grip tape weigh?
I tinkered with my grips and I believe due to the less weight of the current grip, my performance has suffered. The grips that worked best for me were a midsize at 59 grams.
Currently I am playing a 50 gram grip with 3 wraps underneath. How close am I to my original set up? And what, if any, effect would there be going to a 64 gram mid size grip?Last edited by Big Johnny69; 05-20-2014 at 10:42 AM.

swing weight has changed by 6-7 grams in the butt... bit of lead tape on the heads should balance it out ..
good luck

I don't mind lead tape on my woods, but hate the look of it on my irons. I find it difficult to "hide" it to keep the lines clean on the head.
And I am looking at a few midsize options. To get closer to my original "feel" is it better to go with a midsize that is 4-5 grams lighter than the original grip at 59 grams or go 5-6 grams heavier?"A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." M.Pare 10/09/08

And I've read that the average strip of grip tape weighs about 2 grams, so if I was to build my a standard grip to midsize (approx 4-6 wraps) would that weight be acceptable or negligible?

I have seen grips 3 to 4 grams +/- from stated weight.
By a case and weight sort them and you will have 4 or 5 different piles and not all the same amount in each.
I use I.5 gr. / wrap for calculation purposes.
