The Black usually opens mid-April ish.
NY has had a ton of snow, for them, this year as well but I'm not sure what their melt situation has been. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Update. Just checked a traffic cam near the course, no snow on the ground on Long Island.

Depending on the summer schedule I would be down for a road trip to Bethpage.
It might require some spousal negotiation since I'm heading to Pinehurst in a couple of weeks before the Masters. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

When we went by Binghampton and Syracuse last week, there was less snow than here.

Yep, Geoff and I did that a few years ago but played the Black first.
It's been a few years, so I'm due.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

That sounds very tempting. Same here though I am going to Myrtle Beach in 17 days...Let the negotiations begin!
Obviously you're not a golfer.

In case anyone wants to book the whole course for the day, it can be done for the shockingly low fee of $100K US plus green fees for your group.
That saves you from sleeping in the car.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

HAHAHA!!! I noticed they had a $5/person reservation fee. Does that only apply to residents?
-
03-18-2014 05:17 PM #73
IIRC the reservation fee is for anyone booking in advance.
In state you can book a week in advance, out of state two days. The only way you can get a time with the two day advance booking is if there is a cancellation or you are a single. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Hey guys---heading home next Sunday---will keep you posted on snow conditions as we head north---probably stopping in Syracuse---will check Timber Banks and look for flagsticks ----this has been the worst trip south ever. The good thing is that I KNOW I will play courses at home that will be in better shape than the ones here Very disappointing year.
In all honesty--we complain a lot about some of our conditions at home but after 12 years of wintering in the south I think we are pretty lucky with what we do have---considering the length of our season.
At least I get to play tomorrow and Friday---hopefully the sun stays out next weekDoes the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Good News coming out of Binghamton,NY. En-joie Golf Course appears to be near opening according to their website. 70% grass.....lot better than the 1% I see out my back windows at Equinelle......and that might disappear tomorrow with the chance of 10cm coming????

If I read the second one correctly, we seem to fall exactly in the weighted average of ~ 60%. I like those odds in terms of them being wrong!

Lets just take this above zero temperature for now and hope for a quick melt, keep our expectations low and hope to golf in late April

Another 10-15 centimetres for us Saturday. This is getting severely depressing.

Mont Ste Marie's facebook page said 20 fresh cms of snow at the top of the mountain yesterday, expecting prime mid-season conditions there saturday morning. One man's pain is another man's pleasure I guess.

On a positive note, the warm-ish weather the last couple of days has allowed enough snow to melt so that I can see the tops of the mounds that border the left side of #10 fairway at the Marshes.
Keep the melting coming! Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
