Weight loss..
Since I posted some of my old clothes for sale I thought I would post a quick story about the last year.. It took a bunch of hard work and big changes but in the last 12 months I managed to shed 95lbs and it feels incredible!
Here are a couple before and after shots. The suit pics where taken almost exactly a year apart.
I am not at my goal yet but closing in.. I would be interested in hearing other peoples weight loss stories.Proud Member BigJohnnys Ryder Cup Team '08

Wow, great job Lance. I would not have recognized you.
I dropped about 30lbs a couple of years ago. I've managed to keep most of it off still, still recovering from the Christmas eating season right now. Need to drop about 10.
Not sure what you did, but I dropped mine by starting to row (indoor). 5 or 6 days a week for about 30 minutes a day. Other than cutting fries at lunch, I didn't really change my eating habits. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Thanks JV. I have gotten that reaction a lot and its always fun.. I hadn't seen one of my cousins in a year and she wouldn't believe it was me..
I was a horrible eater. I would eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.. including 6+ pop a day. I started by counting my calories, drinking a ton of water and I quit pop. Started getting into fitness and loving it. I hadn't skated in 10 years and now I am playing hockey 3 times a week.. My next goal is to start jogging end of March.Proud Member BigJohnnys Ryder Cup Team '08

Pop is a killer. Basically liquid sugar.
I hate running, plus it's hard on the feet/knees which is why I bought a rowing machine. If you want an ass-kicker of a workout, get on the rower for half an hour. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I want a row machine badly but no funds... What do you have? I have been researching those water ones (ever since watching House of Cards).

If you are serious about rowing, the one to get is Concept2. They are the defacto standard. New they run about $1400 but if you are lucky you can get a used one (Model D or E) for quite a bit less. I paid $750 for mine.
The good thing is they are built like tanks so even a used one will likely be in very good shape. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Running will hook you buddy, it is tougher on the body but such a good cardio workout if you are willing to push yourself. I started running again in October and have been on a paleo cleanse diet wise for three weeks now and am also feeling great. 9 pounds down, 6 to go. Ran my first sub 50 minute 10k and am trying to get to 45 next.

The Concept 2 rower is very good....we have 2 at my office. I've been mixing in 10-12min on the rower at the highest setting followed by 30 minutes of running 5:1's on the treadmill after 40 minutes of lifting free weights....3.5 weeks in and down almost 12 pounds. I've also been eating pretty clean since Jan.1st.

lance, sign up for a race. There is still room in the race weekend 5k in Ottawa at the end of May. That is great motivation to get out and train if you need it.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Nice work Lance!
I'm not a fan of running either to be honest. Lots of people I know run, but I'd prefer to cycle. I really need to get into somewhat of a routine this Spring. I could use a ten pound drop.

btw congrats lance, you are barely recognizable and thats a good thing! Keep it up and keep it off, that has been my challenge. Down 7lbs since christmas, got another 18 to go.

Good job Lance.. I know it must have been a tough go, but you did it. A true testament to your stubbornness Congratulations... you inspire me bud..
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...
