I'd recommend to anyone new to sim golfing to have the room as dark as possible for picture quality.

Very common to have a spot light above golfer/ball to help not actually play in the dark though.

Darkness also help with the "immersive-ness" as well.

    Almost done!

Been a while since my last post. Lots of work on the house and the sim took the back burner.

Just a few things to complete, but 100% usable already.

I ended up going with the Optoma GT760 for the projector.

Frame is made out of PVC. Much quieter than I expected it to be.

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

    Okay, to start...

What aspect ratio are you using (16:10?) and what are your projected dimensions?

What type of screen are you using?

What type of floor to ceiling curtains are you using and what type of hardware?

What type of mat are you using?

What is the distance between the ball and the screen?

    I have more questions!

    great questions-

I am using 16:10, but if I could do it over, I'd do 16:9 because the projector handles it fine, and the touchscreen does not.
    it is roughly 9'x17'
Mounting the projector is a pain because there is no zoom at all.

    got the screen here: http://www.allsportsystems.com/store...actscreenstore

    curtains: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
mounted on a piece of black pipe from lowes

    mat: http://www.amazon.com/TT4860-Monster...lf+hitting+mat
    is awesome!

about 8 feet tee to screen

9' by 17' is massive! Mine will be 9' by 11' and using 4:3.

Did you get any course packs to use with your GC2?

My ceiling height in my garage is 11', so I need curtains that will be long enough.

    Post more pics please...really awesome.

    frame picture

I swapped out the pvc frame for black pipe because the bottom was getting hit when people hit worm burners. The new bottom is much thinner (.75" vs 1.5") and I put a piece of foam insulation on it.

For anyone buying the screen- I wanted to err on the large side and got mine slightly too tall thinking that I'd wrap it around the frame and use bungees. I can say that I wish I just got it an inch or two short in both directions, much easier to bungee to the side at that point.

In the picture you can see that I am suspending the frame from the ceiling with standard drop ceiling wire and i bolts. The frame barely touches the floor.

I think this design is slightly preferable to the ones that use angle iron that is attached to the house frame because it seems to be quieter.
