Gym comparison
Has anyone here compared/been a member of Goodlife Fitness vs. The Athletic Club (not the OAC)?
Going to join one or the other and looking for opinions on each.

been a Goodlife member since 2003... lots of locations... lots of cities.. awesome spinning classes.
I've done 2-3 per week for 11 years. many 24 hour clubs during the week.
no swimming pools...
Athletic club is not close enough to make it attractive for me.

I've been a Goodlife member for 4 years, my wife for longer. We go usually to the one on Tenth Line in Orleans - it serves our purposes for spinning and other classes as well as weight equipment. My wife also joined the Athletic Club on Innes for a while to use the pool.
Her comments were that the pool was much better at the Athletic Club than the Goodlife one at St. Laurent. She didn't like the spinning classes there as well as she did at Goodlife - but that is usually instructor-dependent. The Goodlife "Personal Trainers" (in my humble opinion) are not worth the money, at some $50 or more an hour.
The Athletic Club has a nice juice bar!
We get discounted rates at Goodlife, so $400 per year is a steal compared to the rates at The Athletic Club. Also have used Goodlife gyms in at least a dozen cities.
It's not much, but a start.

You have already rejected the RA Centre?

I had never heard of the RA centre until your post. But it's not what I'm looking for. I want a gym with multiple locations.

Been with TAC for a year and was with good life before that for a couple years.
When I started back at the gym, due to location and the lady going to TAC I decided to try it out. Personally, I like TAC better now that I have been there. Lots of classes(haven't tried one so I can't comment, girlfriend uses them), lots of equipment along with the gym and pool/hottub and it was costing me about the same price as goodlife.
I believe the locations for TAC is Kanata (or soon to be opening) Trainyards (the one I use) and Orleans. May be missing one though.

Was a member at the OAC for years, but had to give it up for a while. I would consider returning except they are almost twice the price of the others in town. Way too rich for my blood.

Just a heads up Goodlife can be easily played for a cheaper membership, they wanted $32.50 every two weeks, I kept telling the girl my entertainment dollar is very stretched and kept saying maybe fit for less was a better option for my budget, acknowledging they had a much better facility, she came back with $25.50 which I still thought was high she then came back with $19.50 bi weekly, work your magic and you can get a much better deal at Goodlife.
