    Shaft question

    Hi,
I installed a Maltby MPF Fairway fairway shaft into a 7 wood. I followed the tipping instructions and took 2 inches off. It was a stiff shaft, but feels way too stiff for me. Low ball flight and a harsh feeling. I had installed one of those shafts a couple of years ago in a 4 wood and love it. I was wondering if I put another one in but tipped it less it would be ok. If so, how much softer would taking an inch off be.. would I notice a difference.
I have stiff shafts in all of my other clubs and they are fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    thanks

Average cpm decrease or increase for every 1/2 inch of tip trimming is usually 5 cycles per minute therefore 1/2 a flex.Other factors kick in such as head weight and shaft bending properties . Take a look at the following graph posted by Tom Wishon. Label says stiff but not really a good indicator.
