Effect of ball type on Launch Monitors?
Hi,
Can someone please advise what the effect of using a Real vs Foam (e.g AlmostGolf) Ball has on the ball flight calculations for the various Launch Monitors? Can/Does the software need to be adjusted based on the ball type? Can you still get realistic results from a Launch Monitor by not hitting a 'real' ball?
Many Thanks,
Andy

Andy
Radar monitors will get false readings as ball slows quickly.
My GC2 testing showed BrushT balls initial flight was same as real ball so GC2 data was accurate. Others were slow/less spin.

Thanks CPA. Is this because the GC2 (and other camera based systems) measure the ball immediately after launch whereas the Radar systems need a longer ball flight to measure? Unfortunately, my budget cannot stretch to the GC2 so was looking at used Accusport models (Vector Pro/X) or possibly a used Golf Achiever II if I go the Launch Monitor route or P3ProSwing if I go the Golf Sim route. However, I need to be able to use the system outdoors so a Launch Monitor seems the best option. I'm not that worried about getting courses etc. as my main requirement is for game improvement so accuracy is the main feature I need. A simple driving range representation on screen is all I need in terms of ball flight feedback.
Regards,
Andy.
