Suggestions for Padding Ceiling
I am going to "finish" the simulator room by covering the walls and ceiling with plywood. The walls will then be covered with carpet tiles in a checkerboard pattern. But I need some suggestions for the ceiling. A lob wedge or sand wedge with open face won't make it to my screen and will end up hitting the ceiling. So having plywood covered by carpet will not do anything to deaden the sound. Any ideas for a good looking and inexpensive ceiling solution? I was thinking foam accoustic tiles but they are sorta of pricey and with the checkerboard on the vertical walls, may be too patterned for the ceiling. Thanks.

How do you attach it to the ceiling? A 130 sq ft piece of memory foam is quite heavy.

Glue individual tile size pieces or nailgun larger piece with plastic washers.

Why pattern the walls? Would look more interesting but then might it be more distracting than a solid color?

PS inexpensive ceiling AND wall option is 3 pass blackout curtain draped over wire running inside both side walls, leaving a 3 inch gap. Low noise, cheap, quick and easy. Looks like a theatre. Sew or Velcro together any join.

Hi guys
Same problem. Wedge won't reach the screen. I tried the solution as per the images but it looks pretty ugly and still won't catch the high trajectory shots.
The guy helping me suggested using a tight net (?strung between a couple of tension wires from wall to wall). It is a wooden ceiling and my wife sits on the other side in our living room (immediaely above), so also want the best acoustic solution. ?drape ?memory foam??

Thanks HRS
Do you think open or closed cell foam is the way to go? If I cover with carpet, what thickness would suffice?

closed is stronger, you don't need to cover with carpet, it looks fine on its own (if you like black or white!)

I've purchased foam from them for my side walls of my old set up. On my new set up, I am using their foam for behind the screen. My concern with putting this stuff on the ceiling is the weight. I tried gluing 3 inch closed cell foam for behind the screen and I used the 3M spray adhesive they recommend, but the foam fell down within 2 days.
How would you adhere it to the ceiling? My concern is having a clean and finished looking room, so stapling the foam into the ceiling (without some cover) isn't an option. My last resort is carpet tiles but that gives no padding for wedge shots; just a nice, finished look to the ceiling.

Are people saying that carpet should not be put on the surface of the foam because bounce will be increased? i.e. is foam better than carpet/foam in terms of reducing deflection??
Is memory foam the best for minimising bounce back?? e.g for a foam wedge at the top of screen/ceiling juncture?

Mine is 1/2" thick, seems to absorb shots well, stays up with adhesive.
