Champlain or Gatineau?
Planning a round with some friends in the next week or 2 and these courses have been suggested for the round for their central location to everyone playing. Ive never played either and would like some input on which one would is the better course in terms of layout as well as current conditions. The gree fee prices are very close (Gatineau a couple dollars more)
Thanks

Gatineau
Make that 2 miles....although you can't get a better hot dog than the ones cooked up by Bernie at Champlain

Thanks for the input everyone. Sounds like its gotta be Gatineau. Hopefully the greens with repairs are growing in nicely.

Don't worry about the greens GJS, there's only a few (2) greens that suffers due to repair and they are so big lots of room to put the flag well away from the repaired areas.

Played a round at the Gatineau on July 10th. The course is in decent shape although there are spots on both the fairways and the greens that continue to show winter kill. There is no chance of finding your ball if it rolls into the rough along the fairways, too high, too thick, too !@$#%$^. I'll go back because the layout is interesting and there are choices to be made on most holes with a good pace of play.

Champlain if you prefer a wide open course. Gatineau is definitely a better challenge despite the winter kill that remains.

Ya, no contest. Gatineau for sure. Although, on pace of play I completely disagree. They pack people on to the course too much. There is ALWAYS 2 groups or so waiting on the first box.
The marshals really don't seem to care. The other thing I don't like there is the cart girls RARELY come by.
But, between the 2, for sure Gatineau is a much better track. A few more years of aging, some better management and I think it will be one of the better courses in the region for the price.Last edited by Kilroy; 07-12-2013 at 12:15 PM.
The difference between involvement and commitment are like a egg and ham breakfast, the chicken was involved, the pig was commited.
