Drop Zones - Confused
I'll use Equinelle #1 and 8 as examples. Both have "drop zones"
If i'm teeing off from the tips on Equinelle on number 1 and either hit it in the water left or push a big drive OB up the right side over the bunkers can i decide to use the drop zone in either of these instances hitting 3? I've always been confused by them.
On eight, the par three there is a drop zone too, what if i hit a massive hook ob onto the road left or duff it off the tee thirty yards into the drink in front of me? Drop zone hitting 3 regardless?

Drop zones cannot be used for OB situations.
Not knowing the course I would venture that the DZs are for use when the ball is in the associated water hazard.

Incidentally, the DZ should be an additional option to the usual WH relief, not compulsory.

Does using either of these drop zones eliminate the need to play over a water hazard?
