    Airport Range

    Hi,
Anyone knows which home development company bought the airport golf range? Their websites would be great. Thanks.

Not sure when, but the land has been sold to a housing developer.

Monarch built Stonebridge so maybe Stonebridge #2 is on the way. How bout Woodbridge? Or AirportBridge. Or The Huntbridge. Or not.

Too bad, closest range to my office, a quick little lunch getaway.

It would have to be a pretty small course to fit there unless they bought up some of the adjoining lands.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

Most of the land surrounding the Airport Range belongs to the military (DND). The end of the range backs right onto the PMQ area (Married Quarters). So expanding the area in a full-blown course is highly unlikely unless they buy federal properties.

nice_lag, I see your location is Barrie, you sure know a lot more about my neighbourhood than I do . I was at VaunghMill on Hwy400 last week, so close enough to your neck of woods.

Back to the range, rumours has it will be turned into another sub-division for more homes. They are also clearing the lot of pines tree across from Hunt Club golf course. At this point, I just like to know which builder has got a hold of this section of land. I checked Mornach site and no indications of it.

Conroy is not that far off and they have a "luncheon" special.

I hope this doesn't get me in trouble with the moderators, but does anyone know how often they replace their balls? I went there once last year on my way home (I used to hit lots of balls at the 19th Tee on Carling) and the large pail was full of balls in very bad condition. Some seemed to have lost their covers, some were split and others just seemed to be just plain old.

I figured I'd hit a few just to see how my ball striking was that day, given that flight would mean absolutely nothing.

I now live about 10 minutes away and would love to get there a couple of times a week, but it just didn't seem to be worth it. Was it any better at the end of the year? Do many people here go there from time to time? Maybe I just got unlucky that day.

It is Monarch (they are owned by Taylor Woodrow):

BTW, I see that Monarch built and owns the Millcroft Golf Club and surrounding housing development in Burlington. Their parent company built and owns several golf clubs and housing developments in Florida, including Mirasol (home of the Honda Classic). An interesting piece of info for those who think Stonebridge will be sold any day now because "Monarch is not in the golf club business".

I live about 2 minutes from the range on Conroy Road and I rarely go there. The balls are old, the mats won't lie flat, the hitting areas are cramped, there is no short-game area, the grass is non-existent...

Go to Raceview/Falcon Ridge on Albion or Target Golf on Bank Street.

The balls were no better at Airport. They also had wood colums too close to one another that held up the roof making the hitting areas cramped.

Thanks for the info el tigre..

Looks like there just enough land for homes contruction. And seem they are strategically being build right across from Hunt Club course.

    Thunderbird on Conroy

Last year they got new golf balls at the range on Conroy (they used to be the unbelievably bad). It is only 5 minutes from my house but is still my least favourite range. It is a last resort when time is tight for me.

No, that was the standard condition.

Other ranges keeps better ball conditions. The best one I've seen so far is Kevin Haimes.

Target has a lot of new balls this year. And they also have a bunch of $2 off coupons and buy one, get the second for $2 in some of those flyer booklets you get in the mail. They also have a pay for 7, the 8th is free cards....

    19th Tee

I find 19th Tee generally has good balls but their buckets shrunk this year.
