Golfing in Rochester, NY
Hello,
I'm looking to make a roadtrip to the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in August to watch the last major, but I also want to golf the local courses before/after seeing the pros.
Can anyone recommend any local courses and places to stay? Thanks.

I'll also be going down for Practice Rd and Thursday's Rd. I waited to long and everything else is SOLD out short of buying a week pass.

I'm sure you can still buy Saturday or Sunday but through a 3rd party ticket website and probably double the price, but it may be worth it. I think this is the only major that is close for a while.

I think they may still be looking for volunteers. I'm signed up to be a first hole marshall. You have to pay $200 for the uniform and commit to work 4 shifts (16 hours) but you get a full access, inside the ropes week pass with parking. It's a pretty good deal - I did it last year at Kiawah Island working on the Contestant Transportation committee driving players, wives, caddies etc.. between airport, golf course and their rented houses.
And if you have a junior golfer, they can work the leaderboards. My son is doing this, it is free for Juniors and they get the uniform with the week pass as well.If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
