Golf Course Rescue Plan
Recent news that theMont Ste. Marie Golf Course has closed is premature.
More than 120 peoplerallied at the community center Monday night to be told that the municipalityis ready to sign a three-year lease to keep it open. A new management team is being assemblednow. Although spring weather is slow toarrive, maintenance is already under way.
Meanwhile, the ownerscontinue to receive proposals from interested buyers. The lease would be terminated once the courseis sold to new golf operators Any liabilitywill be born by a separate Economic Development Corporation that is being setup for the purpose.
The Mont Ste-Mariegolf club enjoys a catchment area that extends from Wakefield to Maniwaki, encompassing a peak season population of between 15,000 and 20,000 with verylittle competition. Community leaders are confident that the club can berebuilt with creative thinking and good management. Stay tuned for an opening announcement.

So Mont Ste Marie is back this year. Does anyone know what kind of condition the course is in? I'm thinking of playing there on the long weekend. Do you think that because the Municipality has taken over the coure operations, the overall conditions of the course will be affected?
Thanks,
Phil

The fairways at Mont Ste-Marie are in great shape but the greens are still a bit slow. The new management are doing a great job with a very pleasant change in atmosphere.... you will enjoy it!

Played there on Saturday. Course is in great condition but did expect it to be busier! Crossing my fingers that it picks up. Will be back for sure!

Do they have 9 or 18 open?
