Memory foam and small room stuff
Four questions for those of you with small rooms, or who use memory foam mattresses.
1. The usual distance between hitting screen and back wall is around 15 inches. If using memory foam can this be reduced? How low can you go?
2. How thick is your memory foam?
3. How have you attached the memory foam to the wall?
4) Any other solutions to allow the hitting screen to be pushed closer to the back wall??
Cheers for all your help!

I am very interested in the above questions and to see if anyone has used the memory foam mattress idea behind a screen. Specifically, I am looking to deaden the sound for when I hit my screen. I am a new ProTee user...limited use but love it thus far! ProTee is in the basement and the screen 14 inches from the back wall attached to the ceiling/walls by angle iron & bungees. The master bedroom and kids rooms are upstairs...not directly above the simulator. My wife said it is a problem when the ball is hitting the screen (too loud). I use the screen provided by ProTee (seems to be of very good quality). I prefer to use real golf balls. Has anyone used memory foam to successfully deaden the sound and how well does it work? If anyone has other ideas other than memory foam directly behind the screen it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I put a queen size memory foam and hung it behind my screen. It deadens the ball and it is very quiet. I think it was 1.5 inches thick.

just a couple of inches. I find if you put the foam right up against the screen you can see it when the projector is on.

I was thinking of gluing 6" rockwool insulation to my back wall. Its inexpensive and you can aling the batts to fill any area, so they should not leave any visible evidence from front of screen. I am hoping to end up with ~8" gap.
Anyone try anything like this yet?

CPA, how did you mount the foam, stuck on the back wall or suspended behind the screen? Where did you get the foam from?

Mine is 3 inch mattress topper. Just bought on clearance/special with free ship (deals direct)
Mounted using 2 boards either side along top clamped with gclamps then hung from rafters.

Thanks CPA, sound like you've got a great set up. I'll have to catch up with you one day and check out the layout.
