    Mkt Research: what attracts golfers?

    Hi everyone,

this is my first post and found this interactive forum while shifting through google.

I have been placed in charge of developing a marketing campaign for my school project and was wondering if you golfers can help me determine what specials/bundling package you would prefer/like to see to encourage you to play more golf?
    • “Discovery Package”
      • one round of golf on each of the courses
      • use and tour of the facilities
      • available from November-April (not during peak season)
      • price: below one green fee
      • emphasis on service to sell

    • Destination theme: 3 days and 2 nights, co-promotion with other Golf resorts. 2 days and 1 night in a Major resort followed by a chartered bus ride to decent but not major for 1 day and 1 night.
    • Couples/Single night packages for novices to learn golf
    • coupons to undercut the competitors?
    • Golf round with lunch (eg. $79 for one round of golf with lunch included)
    • Children play free accompanied by one adult for 25% off (can also be tied to school package)
    • Demo days coupled with free golf when items bought at proshop
“play and stay package” agreement with local hotel: advertise more heavily.
    • Kids packages/membership, special pricing directly targeted to kids.
    • offer full service golf store that can analyze people’s swings. Free analysis of swing with the purchase of a golf driver from the store
    • big emphasis on junior golfing

these are the only ideas I can think of to encourage more trials among golfers. I was hoping if you could tell me what specials are needed to encourage yourself to drive out to a golf course an hour or so away when you can play the same level of golf at golf resorts that are located 15-30 mins away.

    thanks guys.

The discovery package sounds great, and the chance to play the area's courses in April for less than 1 green fee is enticing.

Destination packages are good, but nothing new.

kids oriented packages appeal to a very limited demographic: those with kids, and who play golf with the whole family. Some people play golf as a break from the kids once a month, while the other spouse babysits. Nice idea, but I would think the discovery thing would be the most popular.
