I had the pleasure of watching a number of matches at Hunt Club today. Absolutely great golf, played by some of the best players in the region. What a treat! Oh, also feels good as a Hunt Club member having the guys go back to back. Congratulations!

    Renfrew - 5 pts.... Ouch!

Big difference from when I was a member there, and they bounced between A & B.

...and now Rideauview is in A and you're a member there. What is the commonality? The team at both clubs was hoolio-free!

His mere presence at the golf course inspires greatness. Except when I am playing with him, then it inspires hackerness.

question about intersectionals - do the alternates get to play anyway even thought their scores don't count?
every team photo I see has 12 guys in it, but only 10 actually count?
unless the alternates put on a shirt and show up only for the photo opp, im assuming they play too?

    tx.
Alternate is the best position to be in, you a get a shirt, you get to play, but don't have to deal with the stress of winning for your team.

Until you get parachuted in to cover for the 3 hdcp on your team that didn't show up, and you are a 20....priceless!

I believe if an alternate is used, they are placed in order of handicap, as if they were on the team in the first place.
Gimmie: agreement to concede short putts between 2 golfers, neither of which can putt very well.

Nope. You go in the spot that needs to be filled. I've had it happen where I was playing in say 4th or 5th spot as a 4 hdcp and get an alternate thrown in who's a 23 or so because the guy I was supposed to play did not show up.

    Garth,

the process that was used in your case was incorrect. The alternate is to be slotted into the lineup according to his / her handicap as per the below statement in the rules for Intersectionals (which can be found on the OVGA website)

"...The alternate must be positioned as his Club's lowest player at his particular handicap index. (ie later starting time)"

Basically, if he / she is tied (The alternate and another roster player both have 3 indexes) the alternate in is in the group that tees off latest, BUT still is slotted in according to where they fall in the teams index list.

If its 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss, how come the total points awarded always sums to 120? To me there should only be 60 total points avail? I'm obviously missing something here

4 guys in a group. Everyone plays everyone.. so there are actually 6 matches going on in each group. 2 points each match. 12 points per tee time. 10 guys on a team. 120 points.

Eagle Creek won the J. Rivermead won the B. So now Rivermead will move to the A and challenge us for the title.

I don't know any other results...

There was some great golf at Rideau view yesterday. In our group it came down to a 180 yard eagle on 14 and a chip in from an impossible stance on 15 by Rideau view. Marc Ffrench played his heart out but had 0 breaks...really enjoyed looping for him.

Thanks Matt, you were an awesome partner for a crazy day. As someone said last night, our team was 1 win vs Rideauview plus 1 point away from winning the championship.

Congrats to all of the players, from all of the clubs across locations / sites everywhere I am sure, played there hearts out representing their clubs. It is a great day, in a game that is usually played by individuals, to come together as a team and have a true vested interest in what each other are doing. So, once again, to all the players and caddies, club captains, and professionals who support their teams, congrats. I know we all look forward to the 2015 version of this awesome event.
