Which courses are the best on this list? Which ones should we stay away from?

I have played The Tradition, Long Bay and Blackmoor and they are all top notch. Beautiful courses.

MBN South Creek and West
Waterway Hills

These are all lower end courses by Myrtle Beach standards. If price isn't an issue, I would definitely stay away from them.

Ones that I have played that I really like are:

Tradition Club (and litchfield is in the same development, haven't played it but I assume it is comparable)
Wild Wing Avocet (there are actually 4 courses and they are all decent)

Other courses not on your list that I would recommend:

The Grandes Dunes
Pines Lakes (very cheap and great condition)

Played them in December and they were in great condition eventhough it was cold.

Willylax I have played most of your courses on your list and my top 5 are Pawleys, Willbrook, Long Bay, River Club and Wild Wing. One thing to consider is distances between courses and where you are staying. All the courses you listed are part of the same family now so mixing these courses can get you good rates. A few members on here have much more knowledge then me on Myrtle Beach hopefully you get a little input from them.

Swerve Wild Wing is only 27 holes these days.

As Bouboude says, you may want to take into consideration where you are staying in relation to the courses. Going from North to South can take you an hour or so to get to certain courses. For example Farmstead is actually in North Carolina (just across the border) and Pawley, Willbrook, Litchfield are in the far south end of Myrtle Beach.

Willbrook is a great course for the money, and you have some good South End courses on your list. Litchfield is OK (only played it once), Heritage is a great addition in the South end. Pawleys and Willbrook along with River Club make a strong start. You can add an upscale course like True Blue or TPC.

Great list Sparks; I really enjoyed Willbrook, Heritage, Caledonia True Blue and I think it was Long Bay (Nicklaus course). If I was going to MB for the first time looking for the best golf I think I'd lean towards staying closer to Pawleys Island and playing those courses down there. Plenty of nice ones north but the concentration near Pawleys seems to be of better quality on average (and a better $-quality ratio). That Long Bay course was fun but it is North and a bit off the beaten path.

Watch for deals on Myrtle Beach National courses - they own a dozen courses or something, many of which are on this list. They had great deals running for morning rounds. I ended up playing most of my rounds on those courses because of the great deals in the morning and the nice quality courses. Other run deals as well, they just were the best when I was there. Also, if going in a busy season, watch out for shotgun starts - many of the course have shotgun starts once in the morning and then once in the afternoon - so you only have a couple of tee time options until late in the afternoon.

Your courses are made up of 2 pre-customized golf packages: Masters Value and Masters Premier. If you choose the Masters Valkue package, you cannot play courses like Willbrook, Long Bay and River Club. Your top 5 courses are definitely Pawley's Plantation, Willbrook, Long Bay, River Club and Wild Wing Avocet. Grande Dunes Members Club, Grande Dunes Resort Course and King's North also make up part of the Masters Premier package. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Avoid Diamondback now (2013) if you are going to MB in the winter. They no longer winter seed the fairways and it is a real shame. Winter green fees were real low because the word got out about the poor winter conditions.

I was in Myrtle Beach last week. Played MBN Kings North (fantastic condition but 40 MPH wind), Arcadian Shores (very good condition) and Myrtlewood Palmetto (very good condition). Enjoyed playing them all. Watch out for the alligators at Arcadian Shores. There was an 8 foot snake roaming around Kings North the day we were there but we didn't see it.

Gators are common at a lot of courses down there. Don't bug them and they won't bug you (for the most part anyways). My friend almost stepped on a diamondback rattler at River's Edge a few years back. I've never seen a dude run so fast in my life.
