    Protee/GC2 compare

This is just a teaser. More will be coming.

I would like to first say that the GC2 is awesome. It appears to be very accurate and consistent for over 95% of the time, according to how I felt I hit my shots. Every now and then I would get a shot that makes me scratch my head. But I get very few of those. I admit that I have yet to use it outside. That won't be till Mid March around here. If the price was the same with all the courses, the GC2 would be my choice. But the Protee is not too bad either. The folks at Protee know that there's room for improvement and they are working hard at it. And of course, online play is a big plus.

Now that is awesome info to see Zmax. Please keep posting any comparisons/differences you find! Much appreciated! I'd be interested in seeing some shaped shots comparisons whenever you have time...if you wouldn't mind.

Ya thanks for the info. It does make me feel better about my ProTee accuracy. Now if I could just figure out how to hit my 6 iron 170 yds!

Thanks guys. I do intend to post video comparisons for all the different shot shapes. Getting both of these simulation programs and all the hardware involved with them to run smoothly on one computer is not easy to do. Might be a while before I can post another video. Got a lot of stuff to do. I don't even remember the last time I played online.

    psace, Rocketblades. It's real.

This is great stuff. I'm deciding between these two systems and this kind of info is exactly what I need to see.

    Thanks!

Z you need the club fitting software!

I estimate those angles and spin rates on the gc2 would put ithe ball approx 20 foot left.

Keep playing on the protee, better for your game.

Was not that much CPA. I did look at the second screen on the app, which shows how far off line, and it was around 10ft to the left I think. I forgot to take a picture of it. Was in a hurry to get it all uploaded so I wouldn't be late for work. Will not forget it next time.

Thanks ZMax, this kind of review has been a long time coming! At some point, you really should get the club fitting software. I may be in the minority here, but I find it fascinating and when I pulled some clubs out of my "club museum" in the garage I discovered the best driver for me is one I'd long forgotten. More accuracy and more distance in a club I'd "retired" a few years ago. Had I not had the club fitting software, I doubt I'd even thought of testing it and would likely gotten rid of it this Spring. Once I change the shaft, it will only get better! Being able to to test shafts, loft & lie angle over a longer period than the typical fitting session is allowing me to get comfortable with my equipment in a way I've never been able to before.

On a range, I would have seen total distance as equal between my "player" and the "relic" from the garage. With the fitting software I was able to see a 10 yard improvement in carry and 5 yard total with the old driver!

You're welcome wbealsd. I will get the fitting software at some point.

I'll try to upload another video today. Maybe a draw or a fade.

Thanks for posting this, Zmax. Good stuff and looking forward to seeing some others. Question for you regarding the club info from Protee on the shot posted. The face angle is 10 degrees open yet the shot was straight. With that club face reading I would have expected the ball to start at least a little right. Obviously we don't know the algorithms, but do you find that Protee will weigh the actual ball measurements more than club head data when drawing the shot? Looking forward to more posts.

Edit: Never mind, I put on my glasses and saw it was 1.0 instead of 10!

Asics, it's up to the user as to how they want ball path to be handled. It can be setup to use the H-cam first, then fallback to the ball track if the H-cam readings are too weird or not working, and finally fallback to the club face/club path if the previous two don't work.

I have mine setup to strictly use the H-cam for ball path. Same concept for the LA-cam.

Were you using a new beta version of the ProTee interface for your tests, Zmax?

Yes. Quite a few enhancements in there that are not yet in the current release.

ZMax is absolutely right. The ball path has the options of using the Hcam, ball track or clubface path. I personally use the Hcam all the time. If the Hcam for whatever reason is a fault, which if setup well doesn't happen often, then the ball track will be used. Good fallback option. My settings are like Z's to use Hcam all the time.

I can see the shot shape looks similar but you can't see the data. Can you leave the distance, deviation, club head spead etc? This will give us a true side by side comparison

What are you talking about? I took a screen capture of the Protee data which is posted below the video. The GC2 data can be heard if you turn up your volume. The GC2 data comes out on the Android device. You can see both of the Android App screens below the video.

It is somewhat low. Nothings perfect. What are your usual 7 iron spin numbers on the GC2, 6000rpm or so?

The low backspin here is accurate.

why do you think that? Was it a driver and not a i7? Are you just testing if there are any lookup-tables used

    LOL!

I can repeat the swing and the GC2 will show similar numbers. I'm not so sure about the side spin numbers though. Any chance you can emulate my shot above on your TM and post a screen capture? Thanks.

    euh...emulate a smash 1.16, launch at 12* waisting a nice 90mph swing to get only 123 yards....

    Do that all the time......not

Looks like a almost topped ball with a nice big hook, together with some serious forward shaft lean....Will give it a try today

Should be any easy task for a single digit like yourself. The Protee's swing speed was probably a little off. Been testing with a beta version.
